Srezojevci, Serbia | 150kW/645kWh Off-Grid Microgrid ESS Project

Case introduction

  • Hua Power has successfully completed the construction and commissioning of a 150kW / 645kWh off-grid solar–storage–diesel microgrid system in the mountainous region of Srezojevci, Serbia. The project now provides stable and reliable clean energy to local factories, clinics, hotels and laboratories that have long operated without access to the public grid.

    Located in a remote mountainous area, the site previously relied on diesel generators, facing high operating costs, unstable electricity supply and frequent interruptions. To address these challenges, Hua Power designed a fully off-grid solution integrating solar PV, lithium battery storage and backup diesel generation, providing a stable, sustainable and cost-effective energy supply.

    Project Overview

    • Location: Srezojevci, Serbia

    • System Configuration: 180kW PV + 645kWh battery storage + 150kW off-grid inverter

    • Primary Loads: ~103kW, including hotel facilities, medical clinics, lighting, machine tools (lathes), air compressors and other motor-driven equipment

    The diverse load structure and the presence of high–starting-current equipment required a highly robust and stable power system. Hua Power adopted its 150kW industrial-grade off-grid inverter to ensure strong load-handling capability and long-term operational stability.

    Key Technical Highlights

    1. Solar–Storage–Diesel Coordination for 24/7 Reliable Power

    The system operates under an optimized control strategy:

    • Daytime: PV powers local loads and charges the battery

    • Nighttime: Battery supplies continuous power

    • Diesel generator: Functions as backup when needed
      UPS-level switching ensures critical loads remain uninterrupted throughout mode transitions.

    2. Industrial Off-Grid Inverter Ensures Stable Motor-Load Support

    The 150kW off-grid inverter delivers strong overload and surge-handling capability, ensuring reliable operation of motor-driven loads such as lathes and air compressors—key for local workshops and clinics.

    3. Enhanced Safety, Monitoring and Maintainability

    The system integrates multi-level protection, real-time monitoring and remote diagnostics. Hua Power also completed on-site commissioning and technical training, enabling the local team to independently operate and maintain the system.
