Under the bright sun of Águeda, Portugal, Hua Power’s 500kW/1075kWh user-side on/off-grid energy storage project for a local manufacturing enterprise has officially been commissioned.
This project not only marks Hua Power’s further expansion into the European solar-plus-storage market but also demonstrates how our customized solutions effectively address key industrial pain points — high energy costs and strict power reliability requirements — setting a practical example for small and medium-sized commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage applications.
Project Overview: Tailored Energy Solution for 24-Hour Production
Our client is a manufacturing factory with about 300 employees, operating 24 hours a day with an average load of 150 kW. The factory’s high electricity costs had long been a major operational burden.
Although it had an existing 200 kW PV plant, system limitations prevented it from fully utilizing clean energy.To address this, Hua Power designed an integrated AC/DC on/off-grid solar + storage solution, centered around a 500 kW/1075 kWh energy storage system.
Through AC coupling, the solution integrates the existing 200 kW PV system with an additional 400 kW PV array, forming a unified “PV + ESS” structure.
This enables self-consumption, grid export, and off-grid backup, meeting the factory’s round-the-clock energy demand.

Flexible Expansion and Strong Adaptability: Supports PV capacity expansion and handles 100% unbalanced loads, maintaining stable power under fluctuating demand.

Intelligent Control Core: Equipped with Hua Power’s self-developed BMS and EMS systems, optimizing charging and discharging in real time — PV powers the load and charges the battery during the day, while stored energy supplies power during peak hours or at night, minimizing grid dependence.
This versatile solution can also be extended to PV-diesel hybrid microgrids and off-grid island scenarios, realizing true “one solution, multiple applications.”
